What is PCNL?

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove large or complex kidney stones directly through a small incision in the back. A nephroscope is inserted into the kidney, and stones are fragmented and extracted.

PCNL is ideal for large kidney stones (>2 cm), staghorn calculi, or stones resistant to ESWL.
